イランイランには1er／2em／3em／super／superextra／complete　6種類あります。

放っておけば、18メートルくらい伸びてしまうような木ですが、高い位置に花を咲かせても、エッセンシャルオイルをつくるときに大変苦労するので、精油をとるためのイランイランは、花が咲いても手がとどくように、木そのものを短くカットしているそうです。

■2004年秋、とうとう本物のイランイランを手にしました。
お客様が、送ってくださったんです。本物は、私の想像とはぜんぜん違う、かわいらしいお花でした。うれしくてチラシなどに画像を使いました。
最初はグリーンで、だんだん黄色になっていくそうです。
香りは、花をちょっとつぶしてみると手にフレッシュなイランイランの香りがのこります。開花するまえはバナナっぽくも感じます。
バリ島（ウブド）に9月にいったときにふつうにどこでも開花していました。ただし、イランイランではなくカナンガなのではと思いました。香水のレシピによくはいっているフローラルノートのトップに君臨する香料。

摘みたての花から蒸留される。とても甘く、やわらなく、フローラルでバルサミック、少しスパイシーな香り。イランイランは単体でも十分よい香りですが、ROSEWOOD、JASMINE、VETIVER、ベルガモット、ペルーバルサム、ROSE、チュベローズ、そして他の香りとうまく調和します。安息香酸メチル、サリチル酸メチル、メチルパラクレソール、ベンジルアセテート、オイゲノール、ゲラニオール、リナロール、およびテルペン類が含まれています。

Contains methyl benzoate, methyl salicylate, methyl pancretol, benzyl acetate, eugenol, geraniol, linalol, and terpenes.
